TECHNOLOGY CLUSTER (10-12)
This is recommended for students interested in careers in the mechanical and construction technologies. Students examine and explore Auto Body, Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Diesel & Marine Mechanics, Electricity, Masonry, and Welding in half-term units. Students learn basic principles of technologies through formal instruction, direct hands-on experimentation, and simulation. Instruction emphasizes problem-solving methods and the integration of math, science, and other disciplines. Students have the opportunity to use computers, tools, machines, and materials in a variety of applications, to learn safe operating procedures, and to explore career opportunities. Successful completion of this cluster is a prerequisite for Level I construction and mechanical technology courses. This course may be used to meet the Technology Education credit requirement or credit toward the Career and Technology Program completion (but not both).
