DIESEL AND MARINE MECHANICS I (10-12)

This is the first course in a sequence that builds on the knowledge and skills learned in the cluster diesel and marine mechanics course.  Students are involved with experiences in disassembling, assembling, repairing, and adjusting diesel and marine engines.  Experiences also include installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy truck equipment and outboard motors.  Prerequisite:  Successful completion of related cluster course.

DIESEL AND MARINE MECHANICS II (11-12)

This is the second course in a sequence and follows Diesel and Marine Mechanics I.  It is recommended for the student who is planning to enter the diesel or marine mechanics trades or post-secondary training.  Students work on diesel engines, engine systems, transmissions, differentials, and mechanical systems for heavy truck equipment.  Students learn the basics of disassembling, assembling, and testing outboard engines and marine drive systems.  Students will also learn how to use Caterpillar Electronic Technician to diagnose Caterpillar electronic systems.  This course provides the opportunity for independent study with an emphasis on problem solving in simulated on-the-job situations.  Prerequisite:  Diesel and Marine Mechanics I.
